“Dear WD friends,
haven’t you heard the unanimous clamor that fills the Internet against your SmartWare (to call it “smart” must be a joke) software and the fact that it cannot be disabled?
Instead of citing me a Knowledge Base entry about how to “temporally unmount” the VCD until I restart my computer (hey, I’ll even save you the hassle of searching for the KB article that your procedures tell you to send me and I don’t actually wan’t because its not the answer I am searching for, here you go: (aquí iba un link de 4 líneas de largo) , you really have long links by the way) so, as I was saying, instead of sending me that looooooong and useless link you should really bother to escalate this complaint to someone that actually bothers about hundreds of WD drives being returned because of an invasive and annoying software that, let’s be honest, nobody wants and nobody uses because of its poor design.
Please reply when you come to an effective solution to this problem so I can start buying WD drives again. A firmware update that allowed to PERMANENTLY unmount the VCD without installing the “Smart”Ware application would be good. Apologizing to your clients for this annoyance would be great.
Thanks a lot.”
«Dear Ysasmendi,
Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support. My name is James K.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Currently our engineering department is working on a utility that will remove/permanently disable the VCD of the drive. The project ETA is The end of October/beginning of November. This email case has been added to a list and you will be contacted once this utility becomes available.
I hope that we have met your expectations today and that you are satisfied with our service. If you have any further questions, please reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you further.
Sincerely,»
